Starting Fresh: Supporting City View Residents in Transition

When our community’s needs change, we are proud to step in to help. To date, The Furniture Project has fully furnished 45 homes of folx displaced from the City View Apartments.

With news that the City View Apartments would be closing, hundreds of people were suddenly left looking for new housing. Due to the nature of the building’s closing, many residents were not able to bring their apartment furnishings so many people are starting over with nothing.

Metro Housing Collaborative is one of the organizations supporting displaced residents and we’ve partnered with them to help make their clients’ new spaces safe and comfortable places to live.

This is a collaborative effort. We’re also working closely with North Omaha Community Partnership which is helping deliver carefully selected furniture and household goods directly to families. Thanks to this coordinated response, we hope to make this transition a little easier for our neighbors who are starting over.

City View: Furniture & Household Items Distributed

As always, we are accepting donations of gently-used furniture and linens. We have a particular need for smaller-sized items like compact dining tables and dressers that can fit more easily into smaller spaces.

If you have furniture or household items that can help the residents of City View transition into their new homes, please visit our Get Involved page to learn how easy it is to donate.
