Celebrating Pride Month: A Commitment to All Who Seek Safety and Dignity

Supporting the LGBTQIA+ community is important to our mission as we aim to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background or identity, have access to the necessities needed to create a home where they can thrive.

June marks Pride Month—a time to honor the resilience and rights of our LGBTQIA+ family members, friends and neighbors. For organizations like ours, which provide essential home furnishings to people in crisis—this month is a reminder of the intersectional challenges that many queer-identifying people face.

We know that every agency that we serve, serves the LBGTQIA+ community. Whether it is families in the public school system, people experiencing homelessness, people in the foster care system, people with disabilities or people that have experienced a natural disaster, the LBGTQIA+ community is every community.

We serve refugees and immigrants that are often fleeing persecution and violence, seeking safety and a fresh start. Many are also members of the LGBTQIA+ community. We partner with organizations that facilitate refugee and immigrant resettlement, but the journey doesn't end with relocation. Access to safe housing, community support and essential furnishings are crucial for their stability, well-being and ability to contribute to our community.

Similarly, survivors of domestic violence, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, face unique challenges when rebuilding their lives. We partner with local organizations to provide home goods to people who have left dangerous situations to start over in a safer environment.

Supporting the LGBTQIA+ community is important to our mission as we aim to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background or identity, have access to the necessities needed to create a home where they can thrive. By providing gently used furniture and household items, we help transform empty spaces into homes filled with hope and possibility.

This Pride Month, we reaffirm our commitment to inclusivity, safety and dignity for all. Whether you're a donor, volunteer or advocate, your support helps us continue this vital work.

You can make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve. Learn how you can get involved through a donation of household items you’re no longer using, a financial contribution or a gift of your time by visiting today.
