Furnishing Hope & Building Community: Our 2025 Highlights

With your support, we expanded our impact in the Omaha community in 2025.

2025 has been another milestone year for The Furniture Project. As we continue our work for families across the Omaha area, we have seen how community support, thoughtful partnerships and simple acts of generosity can transform lives. This year brought growth, new opportunities for us and our clients and powerful reminders of why our mission matters.

Strengthening Community Through Support and Grants

This summer we were honored to receive a $10,000 grant from the Omaha Community Foundation’s Refugee Community Grant Fund. This funding helped us expand our work with refugee and immigrant families who often arrive in Omaha with very few belongings. The grant allowed us to deliver beds, dressers, tables and other essentials that helped families feel grounded and at home in their first days living in our community.

“This program is a blessing. We didn't have anything. We received an abundance of assistance. [The Furniture Project] changed our sadness to happiness. We are so grateful for everything we received.”

Responding to Urgent Needs: The City View Relocation

When Omaha’s City View Apartments closed suddenly, hundreds of families were displaced with little warning. We stepped in quickly to assist those affected. In total, we helped furnish 63 homes, supporting 83 adults and 45 children who had to rebuild from the ground up.

Working alongside Metro Housing Collaborative and North Omaha Community Partnership, we delivered everything from compact dining sets to beds and dressers. For many families, these were the first pieces of comfort that helped create stable ground as they navigated a chaotic time.

“We were in an unsafe situation and had to evacuate. We were homeless for a while. We finally found a home and didn't have anything to start our new life this really helped me.”

Measuring Impact: Helping Kids Thrive

In reviewing our 2025 data, we learned that 171 of the households we served as of August were referred due to family instability or child welfare concerns. Many children in these situations entered empty homes with no beds, no tables and no places to study or rest. By furnishing these homes, we help create healthy daily routines, consistent sleep and calm spaces where children can thrive both emotionally and academically.

Total Individuals Served: 3626

“We are a family of three. For half a year, we had been homeless. We lived in a hotel where our vehicle was stolen, inside the car was a lot of our belongings. We finally received financial assistance for a house but moved in without any furniture for a whole month. Thanks to [The Furniture Project] we received beds, kitchen supplies, bathroom items and food.”

Environmental Stewardship: Recycling With Purpose

On Global Recycling Day, we calculated that in our 12 years of work, we have redistributed more than $750,000 worth of gently-used furniture back into the Omaha community. Instead of sitting in landfills, sofas, tables and mattresses are given a second life, benefitting both families and the environment. Your donations help make this impact possible.
