Leaving an abusive situation is one of the most courageous and difficult decisions a person can make. It often means walking away from everything, including furniture, belongings and basic household necessities to find safety. Many of the people that we serve are survivors of domestic violence and we take that responsibility seriously.

At The Furniture Project, we believe in the power of recycling—not just for the planet, but for the people in our community. This Global Recycling Day, we’re taking a moment to highlight how your donated furniture helps create a more sustainable, supportive environment for those in need.

The Furniture Project is a local nonprofit working to provide household goods like bedding, couches and kitchen appliances to storm victims displaced from their homes.

Some Omaha firefighters went above the call of duty on Thursday. They helped a family who lost everything. After weeks of sleeping on the floor the family of seven now has beds to sleep in and the firefighters say it’s things like this that make the job rewarding.

Firefighters make it their careers to help people during threatening and critical situations.

Some here in the metro even take that service beyond their time on the job, and into their personal lives.
